Having Fun

There are lots of activities going on each and every night in the Recreation Center at Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps. Activities, such as basketball, volleyball, flag football, the Drama Club, and taikwondo to name a few, give Burdick student employees the opportunity to take a break after the training day and relax with their friends.
The Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps Recreation Center has a modern gym, weight room, pool tables, ping-pong table, foosball and video games. There are opportunities to participate in city league sports as well as intra-mural sports programs in basketball, volleyball, flag football and softball. In addition, there are special formal activities such as the Prom and the annual Valentine's Day Dance and Dinner that give student employees the chance to get "dressed up" and served a formal, sit down dinner by center staff.
Special fun activities are also held every night at the Recreation Center. Who could miss the fun of the Oreo stacking contest, the cake eating contest, or the regular pool tournaments? The Recreation staff work hard to create a variety of activities for the student employees to enjoy.
The Arts and Crafts Program is located in a separate facility that provides a wide variety of arts and crafts opportunities. Painting, drawing, ceramics, and leatherworking are just a few of the activities that occur regularly at the Arts and Crafts Center.
Recreation trips also occur frequently to give student employees the chance to participate in activities off center. Events such as attending the Snow Bears games, frequent trips to the mall, and other local cultural events occur weekly.
Burdick Job Corps also has a library that makes a wide variety of leisure time reading materials available.
