Student Testimonials

"They helped me back on my feet and encouraged me to go farther in my life and my trade."

I dropped out of high school halfway into my third freshman year because I realized that I wasn't getting anywhere in there. I sat around my house, watching one of my favorite shows, which is "Great Chefs", when I remembered how badly I wanted to become an executive pastry chef. I couldn't do much with that as a high school dropout, but I didn't want to be stuck as a dishwasher for the rest of my life, so I decided to enter the Job Corps Program as a Culinary Arts Student.

As I entered my trade, I fell in love with the class immediately. I was doing one of the things I love (cooking) and I was getting recognized for the natural talent I had for baking and food presentation. I couldn't believe how much I knew already, as soon as I got started. I was going through my first two levels at a pretty quick pace, but not so fast as not to learn the things that were being taught. It got better as I became a full time trade student because I got to spend more time in the kitchen. The other Culinary Arts Students are great to get along with and my trade instructor is, in my opinion, the greatest teacher I've ever had. I've never felt so comfortable in a classroom as I am in here.

We've all had our downfalls and during one of my greatest ones, my fellow smurfs (named because of the blue uniforms) were there for me. They helped me back on my feet and encouraged me to go farther in my life and my trade. I am now in Level C, after only 7 months, and I love my trade even more than I did when I first entered the program.

"With the help of Job Corps, I may also attend college and receive further education."

The basic idea of Job Corps is to give you a trade and a knowledge of what working is all about. In my case of attending Job Corps, I am receiving training in becoming a CNA. With the help of Job Corps I may also attend college and receive further education. My main goal is to become a successful Registered Nurse who specializes in Pediatrics.

"I have been in the Auto Repair Program for three months and I am thoroughly impressed."

Job Corps is a great place to be. I have been in the Auto Repair Program for three months, and I am thoroughly impressed. Our instructor is ASE Certified. He takes the time to help everyone out whether it is in the classroom or in the shop. There is a large variety of tools and equipment that are up-to-date for today's auto technicians. A person can study the program for two years. Once a person has finished their first level, they can go on linkage. Linkage is where you work for an auto shop for four to six weeks without pay and after that you work where you want to and get paid. You can also take the ASE tests and get ASE Certified in either or all eight areas. I would recommend Job Corps to anyone. You won't regret coming here.
